Wellness on Lake Geneva
Lake Life | The Best Medicine
Relax (ri-ˈlaks), v. To make less tense or rigid. To relieve from nervous tension. To seek rest or recreation. See also: Lake Life
For centuries, people have sought the peace and playfulness of life by the water. The tranquility of the waves lapping on the shore; the enjoyment of splashing in the crystal clear waters; the connection with nature and a heightening of the senses. Lake Life, as we've come to call it, is the escape from the mounting stresses of everyday life and a reconnection with your well-being.
As the only full-service resort on the shore of Lake Geneva, The Abbey Resort is the starting point to a getaway for the mind and soul. From the moment you walk in the door, you will feel the tension ease from your shoulders. You'll be able to slow down, inhale deeply, smile more. Let the calming lake breeze wash over you as you dine on fresh, locally-sourced fare on our patio. Rent a boat and enjoy time on the water as you watch the birds dive to catch their next meal. Reconnect with your family as you laugh over a game of air hockey or play an old fashioned board game, or take some time for yourself and be pampered at Avani Spa.
Welcome to Lake Life. It's the perfect remedy for what ails you.

Out In the Open Air
Not only do you have 90 acres of lakeside property to enjoy, but there are many activities nearby to keep you busy outdoors.
Explore the Shore
This path initially created by the indigenous peoples that traveled around the perimeter of Lake Geneva, was declared by the early settlers of the area to always be available to the public. Today, the 26-mile-long Lake Geneva Shore Path is a unique experience for casual walkers, history buffs, nature lovers and fitness fanatics alike. Taken in sections or conquered in its entirety, the path showcases the sparkling lake, natural wonders, community camps, and historic estates, and is located just steps away from The Abbey.
Get On the Water
Whether you're looking for excitement, serenity, or something in-between, no Lake Geneva experience is complete without time on its pristine waters. Rent a beautiful Cobalt Boat from Gordy's onsite rental office for the hour or the day for the opportunity to steer yourself around the lake, or let someone else do the piloting and reserve a spot on a public tour with Lake Geneva Cruise Line. Quietly meander along the shore by renting a standup paddleboard, or relax along the shore at one of the public beaches. There is no wrong way to experience the lake.
Hike the Trails
There are many public trails in the area that vary from strolls through open native prairie lands and over flowing streams to exploring lush wooded hills and silent pine forests. We're fortunate to have three different natural areas with trails to hike in our own village. Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy is a hidden gem and local favorite, with many different terrains. White River Park offers areas for hiking, picnicking or kayaking. For the experienced hiker, exploring some of the over 100 miles of trails at Kettle Moraine State Forest is a necessity.
Shop the Markets
Our area lakes are surrounded by fertile farmlands, tended both by families who have handed their land down from generation to generation and those who have recently adopted Southeastern Wisconsin as their new home. When the season is right, area growers, makers and purveyors come together to sell their goods at some of the many area farmers markets or farm stands dotting the countryside. You'll be able to find everything from fresh local produce and jams, jellies and honeys, to unique gift items and floral arrangements.
A New Way to Meet
Even when people head to the lake for meetings and events, the relaxing setting and change of scenery clears the attendees' minds and helps to sharpen their focus. In our new era of meetings, events have moved outdoors or are set in spacious indoor layouts in sunlit meeting rooms. Enriching meals using fresh and locally-sourced ingredients are the norm, and break activities can range from breathing exercises or yoga to lake activities or community engagement.
